Holiday Dreams
Last weekend we were treated to a glimpse of spring. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and finally it felt like winter was waving her icy hand goodbye. Naturally, this solar bathing got me longing for a holiday… sandy beaches, quaint towns, mountain hikes, distant cities. Hopefully it won’t be long until we can go exploring again.
Rooftop Tones
Like most of the country at the moment, I am currently working from home. I live in the residential suburbs of the city so beyond the view of my little garden is a sea of rooftops. Stretching for miles they create a blanket of slate grey, with pops of warm brick set against a cold snowy sky. Weather aside, these warm and cool tones make for a pleasing colour palette.
Coastal Colours
With winter about to set in, I took the opportunity to head out to our nearest stretch of coastline whilst the temperature was still tolerable. Even on an overcast November day the colour palette of rich, muted tones could be appreciated. The dark golden sand was broken up by algae covered rocks, all set against the murky grey sea.
Winter Sun Shadows
At this time of year the shadows here in the North of England are growing longer by the day, making the smallest of objects project the longest of shadows. On my morning walk, the winter sun revealed this illusion on everything from tall tree trees to tiny blades of grass.
